Music
“Music is the Universal Language of Mankind” - Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
At St Werburgh’s C of E Primary School, we celebrate God’s world through the universal language of music. Our aim is to provide an inspiring and enjoyable learning experience in which all children share the joy of being a musician through creating, playing and performing in addition to developing musical knowledge and skills. We are committed to ensuring that children understand the value and importance of music in the wider community. Children will have the opportunity to appreciate a range of musical styles from diverse cultures, traditions and times.
Throughout their time at St Werburgh’s, children will have the opportunity to play a range of tuned and untuned instruments. To enrich children’s musical learning we also welcome a range of external providers that further develop children’s musical skills. This includes:
- Rock Steady
- Derbyshire Music Hub provide Steel Pan lessons for all children in Year 3 and 4
- Violin, Brass, Guitar, Flute, Piano and recorder lesson
